Please don’t move my post (again) to another forum that SC owners don’t look at! This is a valid question that Lexus SC owners have to deal with, and some owners already have. I am getting contradictory information from wheel distributors (including the Tire Rack) and need information from the SC owners.
A local wheel/tire company wants to modify Mercedes wheels to fit the Lexus hole pattern. The pattern is off by approx. 1mm. The holes would be obround (not round) and I am concerned about vibrations/problems.
Has anyone modified a wheel's hole pattern? Did you have success or problems? Any recommendations? Someone has told me there are fitments that can be added but, 1mm is pretty small for some kind of additional part.
I appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Mark (da-bizket)

Personally I wont go for it, since the bolt pattern wont be your only issue, you will need hub centric rings, and maybe ever spacers to make the wheels look right on your sc. All these factors put together makes me a little uncomfortable because now there are three different ways that something could go wrong and a slight vibration could cause the wheel in a worse case scenario to fly off and that would cost you some $$.
All in all I’d say wait until you find a wheel that is made for our cars.

Mark, I think you need to pass on the offer.
I have to agree that there are just too many good wheels ot there that are made for our bolt pattern. I think you'd be unhappy with the performance results of these.

I know a member used to have a set of re-drilled MB spec. Carlsson wheels on his 1GS and never had issue with it and another member who also re-drilled a set of Brabus for his LS and no issue, either. HOWEVER, if you ask me I am on the same boat with other members. I don't like wheels to be re-drilled because it may altered the integrity of the wheels when they were first produced. You can only hope IF the re-drilled was done Ultra Professionally. To me, I will never take that kind of gamble for a set of re-drilled to potentially failed while I am driving. Just my .02

MBZ bolt circle is 5-112 and Lex is 5-114.3, very close. As long as you take the wheels to a shop that know what there doing, use a good quality insert to change the bolt circle. Bore the hub to accept hub ring to match your hub and that it.
Make sure the MBZ wheel have the right size and offset. Some MBZ wheel offset might be too high or too low depending on the model.
