Default tail light out - great engineering!

while driving my wifes 2002 today a warning light came on indication one of the lights was burnt out on the rear of the car, which ended up being the brake light. the owners manual as you would suspect tells what bulbs you need so that part was certainly easy. when i looked to see if there were any instructions all the manual said was "take it to the lexus shop". guess i shouldn't have been surprised.

not wanting to pay $40 for a new bulb replacement i looked at the rear lens assembly and it was pretty obviousl what you needed to do. to my total amazement it was so easy i couldn't believe it. i have changed many a headlight and other bulbs on other cars, but i have to admit lexus made the rear bulb change the easiest i have ever experienced. great engineering lexus!!

Good to hear, but wait until you need to change a fog light bulb or side marker light. I guarantee your post will change then.

LMAO....I truly can attest to that. That fog light situation is a B!!tch. They could not have made it any harder. I think you have to remove the tranny to get to it.

Totally agree. Even the headlights aren't as easy to deal with as the tail lamps.

Dan is right, I purchased some new Phillips bulbs to pop in there (originals are still good-just curious if there was a change). Passenger side-ok-not the easiest but doable. Drivers side? @#$%^&^%$#$%^&*&^%$ kidding me!
As I had to put on a new bumper (no holes) I just pulled the headlight out while the bumper was off. Easy to do.

You'd be amazed at the license plate lights... it's so easy to replace. No need to open the trunk.. it's right outside. I changed mine to super white LED and it looks sharp...

Default Change brake light bulbs

You don't say what you did to change the bulbs. Could you let me know? Thanks.

open trunk, on sides of taillights, there is a plastic tab. pry it open, you will see a 10mm bolt. unscrew that. then you can slide the taillights out. careful not to scratch the bumper. jiggle the taillights if needed

i took out my fog light bulbs and all the plastic under the car off after i got side swiped by a cab in Wrigleyville in chicago. then i went to do some "spirited" snow driving. right now its warm and the fogs are full of water. lol. now i ask people if i need to add some blinker fluid.

the fogs on the SCx00 are pretty easy. on the ES they are cake. the SC430 is a pain though. i had to do some on a customers car once.
