Default Rolling Fender Tool And Our Fenders..

Hey gang,

What are your inputs on Fender Rolling tool for our fenders?? Meaning that it is much more difficult to "roll" fenders on our car compared to let say a 2nd Gen GS.. I got my wheels in a week ago , 20x9 +16, and 20x11 +23... Going with 245/35/20 or 235/30/20 in the fronts and 275/30/20 in the rear.. I rented the tool recently but got caught up in family emergencies that I didn't really have time to concentrate and actually push my fenders to the limit..

I think (plz correct me if I am wrong!), I have the most aggressive offsets on here? So I am not sure if a majority of ppl here would actually go that far in terms of fender modding? .. Hope someone can help...

Originally I wanted to go 20x11 +11, glad I didnt because after looking at my buddy's 2nd GEN GS with same offsets in the rear, his is sticking IMO waaayy out from the fenders. He didnt have time to mod his fender enough so when riding he hit a pothole and the tire dented to fender pretty bad.. so I am not sure how much more room there is on our cars??

it's going to be a lot of "fun" trying to roll the sc430 fenders, especially the way the lining are done on the car. keep us posted

Thanks Henry for the response... Did you "roll" your fenders? Or did u know anyone who successfully rolled an SC430 fender?

Hmmm, I would be very hesitant in rolling myself as I lack the experience and would hate to repaint the fenders/rear quarters due to my mistake. Keep us posted on how yours go.

I rolled my fenders originally because I was running oversized tires from a 350z. (they were 285/35/19s) The fenders are typical Lexus with two super thick layers of metal to roll. I was only able to roll about half of the lip. There are screw holes there that hold the fender trim and it will bend right at the screw holes first. If you go past that you may start to leave creases in the quarter panel.

When I got my car painted, I had the body shop roll my back fenders and I can not believe how flat they got them. If you are in the Socal area, I can recommend the shop and you can check out my fenders. But if not, good luck.

Oh and I think you are really close to the offsets that Bryan is running. And from what i saw of the pics of his car, he still has his fender trim still on the car, which means he didn't have to roll his fenders. I think you can fit 11 wheels ET23 pretty easily. I would try them first and then roll the fenders if needed.. But also keep in mind that the other place that was rubbing on my car when I had the monster tires on the back was the bolt that holds the rear bumper on (its right where the quarter panel and rear bumper meet). I had to shave it down and hold it with a smaller nut and bolt.

Bryan is running stretched tires on 19" while D-man wants to run 275 on 20" in the rear.
There is a reason Bryan doesn't slam his car all the way because it will rub without some fender work first.

Another guy wants run 255/40/20 in the front on 20x8.5" +15 without any fender mods, I actually told him to raise his car.

Thanks guys for the feedback,

Pearlpower, thanks for the link... it will help me out alot.. Thank goodness I have you for the SC who experiments with their car and push it to the limit !! BTW, how is your TC doing? any updates? looking forward to it.

Hipendicul, thanks for the writeup, these are the tips that I really need.. Little hidden screws that we can shave etc.. etc.. that counts in the long run in terms of alleviating rubbing..

talwang, yeah you said it right.. I am on 275's in the rear, that will create problems with rubbing.. Though I went with Falken 452, supposively they stretch better than some tires.. Always appreciate u saying ur inputs

MAKE SURE YOU HEAT UP THE METAL if you do this way, otherwise paint will crack and flake off

I went even one step more ghetto. I used my jack handle to roll my fenders the first time. Worked good other than I did chip off alot of paint. Didn't even think about heating the paint up.. But I guess it didn't matter anyways. Oh and I liked how he had a poll hidden right by the drivers seat. Kinda like having a cue ball in a sock trick.. hah hah..

And whats with taking a hammer to the front fenders. All of my cars including the Sc, the front fenders were so soft, you can get a pretty good roll just using your fingers. Its the rears that are a B...ch.
