Default Car in soon with Run Flats, need advice?

Seems like my Silver SC will be in next week complete with run flats I did not want or order. For $770 dealer can install spare tire kit. My question is since I intend to replace the runflats with conventional when there wear out do I buy the spare kit now or later. I have seen another thread where $1000 was quoted for the spare.

Any advice appreciated, my previous experience with runflats on another car was not good.

Thanks in advance
Peter

Yes...RunFarts are a problem. I also am just running them till they wear out, and plan to replace them with a smoother running, better performing conventional tire.

My tires also thump for a few blocks when cold.

The cost of converting to a space saving spare, and the inconvienient place that it is stuck in the trunk, has me planning to forget the spare, and carry a tire inflator, and a cell phone. May need to drive a few miles on a flat, but it still beats loosing almost all the trunk space, and reaching over that spare everytime I want to remove something from the trunk.

Corvette owners also complain loudly about runFarts, and I understand the next generation Viper will come standard with high performance 19" run flats. (500 hp/500 torque from 505cu inch motor.)

I agree. Get rid of the run flats, but do not keep a spare. Save the already limited trunk space. These run falts **** me off.

Default run flats

The run flat, pose a problem, but really getting a flat does not happen often, and the only one time in the last six years I was unlucky was when a person was doing some renovation near by, and luckily it was a slow leak and I saw it before any problem. I think you should carry a couple of the cans of sealer, and just plan on replacing the sensor, if luck is against you. You won`t get a flat unless you are thinking about it. Tony

Having my runflats pulled this week, replacing with Pilot AS Sport, not going to by a spare, guess I'll gamble.
