I agree with tfischer. Just say you are "hearing clunking sounds from the rear suspension when going over bumps". I also recommend you ask for the wheel alignment to be checked. Some dealers are doing this automatically when they change the bushings. I know from experience that minor alignment problems have a big effect on ride quality (i.e. residual vibration after small bumps).

Cool ...bushings, etc.

Yea...my car was made after June '01, yet needed the bushings replaced, with a vastly improved ride. Remember to use 38psi. in the run-flat tires also for a more optimal ride.

Is this covered by the warranty? If so, which one? I have an '03 with 43K miles.

I'd also like to know if these can be performed out of warranty by the dealership.

As a non-safety issue, I seriously doubt it, but a quick phone call to the dealership would confirm.

Not exactly, my local dealership would either [1] Not have a clue about this, or [2] Lie & say they can't do it out of warranty [even it should be and is eligible].

While I'm not 100% sure on this, I'm about 90% sure that the "rear bushings clunk" issue was only on early 2002 models. I don't have access to the exact TSB (anyone got a TIS account and can look this up? (https://techinfo.toyota.com)) but, I'm pretty sure it's 2002 cars made prior to XXX date. Should be a non-issue for any 2003 and up car.

Anyone find out if this can be replaced out of warranty? It sounds like it would be very costly to do if it takes all day for them to do it.

I have a 2006 and run flats. This is my first run flat low profiles. Ride is rough and bumpy. Does anyone else with newer model SC430 experience rough ride? I was told this was typical of run flats.

Yes, typical with runflats. Get rid of them.

I've attached the TSB that I have regarding this issue. It's old but I believe is still applicable. This bulletin replaced the one mention in comment #8 above. Hope this helps.

Default ride SC430

I just saw there posts regarding the ride. When I test drove several SC 430 that was the first thing i noticed and was very surprised because the car doesn't have the german handling so i expected a totally luxury ride which it wasn't. I can take that in a SLK AMG because what it is but not in the Lexus. The ride seems so contrary to what the car is all about ?
