Default More Horse Power and performance for SC 430

I find I dont have enough torque below 3000 RPM, so often manually shift down to lift the RPM needle so it is then registering horizontal at around 3000 RPM before overtaking at speed. Question: is there a retro-fit chip or tune-up possibility which either gives easier, quicker, automatic kick-down downshifting or more engine torque at lower revs? I feel a 4.3 litre engine should have more oomph!

Hello and welcome
Do a search and you will see a vast amount of information on what you are asking along with mods. Headers, TC, gears, LSD, exhaust, piggyback computers,etc.....It's all there.
Put another way my SC430 will walk all over a 545 BMW, 996 Porsche Tip, and almost stay with my 350+HP 928S4. The other day from the line I stayed with a new 335 up to 80 where he got me by 1 car only. You can make it happen-it just takes time , effort, and $$$. If you rather not put in the effort then it cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Default More power

Thanks Pearlpower. Where would I start upgrading? What is the first step to take? I have just got my remote roof opener and rear window switch controller from Luxlink. They are very helpful. I also would like some more power. Can you give me any tips? Thanks

I'm not sure of your price range, but the easiest way to get more power is a new intake, header, and exhaust upgrade. If you search, you will find plenty of posts about the good and bad products for each. But upgrading like this will get expensive in the long run...

3.76/LSD Supra TT Auto rear end help off the line
Torque Converter -2600-2800rpm really helps off the line.
Combined the above will knock an easy .3 off the 1/4
Then headers which have proven to provide HP and TQ and intake.

With the above you will have a pretty quick car. Not the quickest but certainly quicker than stock.

Too bad that 335i owner's car probably doesn't work anymore. There are so many horror stories of the fuel system going out and having their cars rendered useless for months due to a parts shortage.

How about some real hp? A s/c with 8 psi will wake this car up.

Easiest way to make the SC430 go faster is to leave it in the garage and buy a motorcycle!! 0-100 in 2.5 seconds and 9.5 seconds quarter out of the box.

The SC430 is a cruiser not a sports car, its only a sporty car.

Not sure if you've heard of the Sprint Booster. I had one installed on my 06' SL500 and it made a world of difference. They make them for lot's of different vehicles including Lexus. What is does is change the electronic throttle response. It gets rid of the lag and it's less than $500.00 installed and you will notice a difference the minute you have it installed.
