2002-2004 sc430 hidden telephone box?!?!
Alright guys I was playing around with my friends automotive software and i stumbled into some interesting stuff the 2002 to the 2004 models have a telephone computer box in the back trunk near the navigation system under the carpet I havn't checked yet but all the picture indicate that there is one there and also there is a telephone microphone amplifier box in the passenger glove compartment near the button. My question is what does it do? and how do i get these features to work on my car?

There is no such thing as a carphone that is usable with the top down. Too much noise, regardless where you put the mic.
Just use your cell. I have tried to no ends to get blue tooth integrated to my 2003 stock electronics, but it won't happen until I buy a new SC.
Best shot, if you want a topdown handsfree cell phone kit, would be to get a semi-rigid snakey high tech mic that comes out of the top of the seat and bends to sit in front of your mouth. Even that though, may be tacky.

Ya that would be cool I have been searching all over the internet to try to find out what that is appearently no one has any clue that this device is even there... I guess it might be one those features that they " were planning to intergrate the phone but decided not to until 05" but don't take my word for it if anyone can find out anymore information that would be very helpful. I also went back to my friends work place and scroll through his mitchell 1 import textbook and I did find the same telephone and mic box at the same location... which means that the telephone computer box and telephone microphone amplier are real but the problem is what does it do

Could it be part of the Lexus Link system that Lexus offered at an option on the 02-04 SC430's?

From what I understand, it's an analog cell phone system that's no longer activateable (is that a word?)....similar to GM's OnStar.

It is for Japan domestic cell phone use only.
Toyota had (still has) a special contract with one of the wireless carriers in Japan (AU by KDDI). It was an option for Soarer purchasers but only AU mobile phone could be used.
My 2004 Soarer has it and I been using it and it works great even with the top down. Just like the bluetooth function, you can dial and answer the call from Navi menu with G-Book option.
Hope this helps.
