I recently put on 4 Michellin Pilot Sport A/S tires. These were recommended by several folks here. Night and day difference between those and the Dunlop RFT's that came on it!
The only thing I don't know about is the winter traction...although, I honestly can't imagine they could be WORSE in the winter than those Dunlops! The car was literally un-drivable with any snow at all on the road.

Congratulations on the purchase. The SC was actually the most reliable car in the 04 JD Power survey. Having had mine for 1 year now it has proven to be faultless (Apart from wheel corrosion which is a problem with salted roads in the UK)
As far as I can see the only slight annoyance may be the oxygen sensor at around 70,000 miles.
My Z has now been back for 7 warranty issues.

I have had similar problems with my Supra and 2 Celicas.
The 350Z fronts lasted 24,000 miles in comparison.
