When I shift gears, i.e. park to reverse or drive etc, there is a slight "ping" noise. There is no bucking or anything, just a ping. Normal?

I have that same problem, I took a look under the car and its just the shifter linkage assembly. Its a series of metal rods connected by rubber washers topped off by some nuts and bolts. In conclusion its basically the sound those parts make while contacting one another. All you would technically need is a few extra rubber washers placed in there but there is such little space to work in that its not worth it. Well at least for me it isn't

This can mean the clips that hold your brake pads are not installed properly.
If the pads are on the small side and clips aren't in place, the pads move to the other side of the caliper whenever the wheels change direction.
