Bluetooth Phones and the SC430
I'm a new owner of a 2008 SC430 and first time poster. Love the car!
I also need a new cell phone, so I figure I should get one that works well with the bluetooth system in the car. I will probably stay with Verizon when picking a new phone. A couple questions:
1) Any recommendations for ones that work especially well?
2) Any ones that are known to be very poor?
3) I was checking phone compatibility at the Lexus web site and there are a lot of phones that are marked "Phone Pairing - No". But then the detailed instructions describe how to pair the phone. What the heck does that mean? For example see this instruction sheet for the Samsung u540: http://lexusbluetooth.letstalk.com/b...315_03Navi.pdf
Thanks in advance!

I am a Verizon customer as well, and I have a Blackberry 8703e. It is a great phone for one, and I have not had any connection problems with it and my 07 SC. It is simple to use...incoming call, you just click the steering wheel button. Want to switch it from the car to the phone, just hit that option on the phone. Never loses the connection when not in use. It has been flawless.
The only problem I have with it is a lack of one feature....transferring the phonebook to the car. It has not been a huge issue because you can just type the number in the phone, or just call from your phonebook, but I wish I could do it from my car. No big deal though. A few board members have purchased cheap phones and used those to import numbers into their car. I have considered doing that. Good luck finding the right one.

I understand that Verizon is relenting a bit on some of the blocks that they put on their phones. Their Razr phone in the past would not download, while others carriers Razr's would. I thought that on an SC without a downloadable phone that there was no way to enter numbers in the phonebook. I know that was true on 2006 LS430's because I had a customer who had Verizon and could not access the phonebook. It is a question to ask at the Verizon store before you purchase. Clark Howard on talk radio today mentioned that Verizon was changing some of their arbitrary rules.
