Default my wheels are green!

Anyone know what this may be? It is in between the spokes on all four wheels. It is on there and won't come off even with strong degreaser or brake dust cleaner. It is smooth to the touch.

Wink

Looks like the paint came off because some kinda harsh chemical was applied. Get it repainted, its cheap. (pepboys)

This should be a good enough reason to get rid of those Nasty Stock rims.

I had exactly that on mine when just over 18 months old.

I suspect it may be heat but not sure.

I got them changed under warranty. (and the wheels for corrosion)

Thanks. Hopefully I too get lucky enough for the dealer to swap them.

what cleaners are there to remove that greenish tarnish on that wheel? I know its most likely a build up of brake dust and heat, embedding itself on that surface.

what are some cleaners you guys/gals can think of to remove that?
i have that same problem on my wheels.

My SC is the first and only car to ever do it. So I am not about to chalk this one up to it being normal 'brake dust'.

I was wondering if they were OEM or aftermarket star shaped chrome finish... Could it be the finish (chrome) wasn't applied correctly or ??? I suggest taking it over to a re-chrome place and asked them. Seems that some have it and some don't which makes me wonder.

I have the same on my 02 and no sign of tarnish however, I haven't had them all that long of a time.

Sc Wheel Covers are plastic. The paint has worn all the way down to the primer/yellowing plastic cover.

Buy some wheel paint from an auto parts store. There are a few that match very well. Had to do the same to my Tundra years back. Careful prep is in order first for a lasting job. Replacements are also sold on Ebay.
