What tires do you recommend for the SC430? (I'm looking at ditching the run flats and installing a spare tire kit.) I'm looking for a decent handling tire (I'm not a hot rodder) that gives a good low noise ride and has a long tread life. (I'm assuming that those criteria pretty much rule out run flats.) I'd prefer to not pay a fortune for them.
It is hard to tell from the various reviews in Consumer Reports and Discount Tire what really works for the SC430 as the performance is related to the car design. Consumer Reports make the Continental ContiExtremeContact sound real good, but a number of the reviews indicate that it tends to track with ruts and gets noisy after 10kmi or so. I've heard that Kumhos are good but Consumer Reports just gave them an average rating all the way across, they also didn't have much good to say about Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or Bridgestone Potenza. The Yokohama Advance S4s are fairly pricey.

If you read all the feedback here, you will find the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S to be the overwhelming choice of tire for the SC430. I got mine through the tirerack and couldn't be happier.

Another CL member and I, gelat0, stumbled on some Pirelli's that aren't a bad option if you decide to stick with runflats. The P-Zero Nero runflats are all-season tires that handle and feel way better than the Bridgestones I had on the car before. In addition, the tire wear rating is better. Depending on who you ask, the major pitfall with this tire is the speed rating. It is an H rated tire. Of course this is lower than Z rates tires the car came with. As I can't imagine having the opportunity in the US to run this car over 130 MPH continuously, I wasn't too concerned about the speed rating. I did want runflat piece of mind, some all season performance, a better ride, and a longer lasting tire. So far all I can report on is the ride. Way better than Bridgestone runflat summers.
Good luck with your search and welcome to CL!

I talked to a Discount Tire guy today who highly recommended the Yokohama YK520 ($164 each), that has a warranteed 60kmi tread life. He got to test drive the tires, but it wasn't in a SC430. Does anyone have any experience with those?

How do you like the Continentals performance overall (ride, noise, mpg, handling, etc.)?
