Default Scuff mark on hood -- removal???

I don't know how it happened, but there's a small scuff mark on my hood. It's not a scratch, because when I run my fingers across it's definitely not raised at all. Regular car wash will not take it off. Anyone know of something I can use to get rid of it? My guess is that some brush at a car wash rubbed against it too hard. Its in the center of the pic, hard to see. thanks!

I would first use your regular wax...like Zaino Z-5 or Z-2. If that's doesn't help... my next step would be to use Mequiar's Scratch X (fine scratch and Swirl Remover) I've used the latter on several scratches in my life time and it has worked 95% of the time. It doesn' sound like it's embedded in your paint so taking it off shouldn't be that difficult. (easy for me to say)

That's what I would do. Maybe some of the others have better ideas, but there's one for ya.

One other thing I might add...If you have Claybar...you might want to try that first. I get real good results with that when something foreign has landed on my SC.

Good Luck!

I use some fine polishing compound to remove scratches,etc.. Works great. Deep scratches require color sanding which can get involved and dangerous provided it is still in the clear coat and considered the last resort before painting.

One of the GM factories that I worked in as a student a few years ago, used a product called 3M-Finesse-It. If you apply a little on a cotton towel and rub by hand, that should remove it. Obviously in the factory they would use air powered equipment. I believe that the product I mentioned is available in most automotive supply stores.

I just used Meguiar's Scratch X and it looks to have taken it off completely

I'll give it a day or two to stop raining to see how the lasting effects are! Thanks
