I would go with the K&N OEM replacement filter. It's a simple drop in filter that lasts for up to 1 Million miles. I've got it on my 94 LS400 and just ordered one for my 05 SC. I'll update when it gets here!

I would opt against that, K&N filters are oiled and generally are not the best idea for our engines. Now there are people that swear by K&N, but the simple fact is that their filters are lubricated by oil and this oil over time works its way into your MAF and throttle body. If you search this forum and google you will find a lot of info on why it’s not always the best choice.
Here are a few sites covering the subject:

Here is K&N’s site and what they have to say about it;

That being said, I have the Tom's drop in filter and couldn't be happier. It is also washable but it is a dry filter, meaning there is no oil in the filter.

Really depends on what you are looking for- a replaceable which needs to be changed every few thousands miles or a permanent replacement unit such as the KNN and others.
I have used the K&N for many years in all of my cars at one stage or another. it is true that over oiling can allow oil to enter the mass flow sensor as well as the motor but there is yet one confirmed documented case that anything serious has every resulted. Over oiling on the mass air flow sensor would require a simple cleaning which is about 5 minutes at the most which all MAF should be cleaned every 10k miles anyhow in my opinion to keep the car running fine. It gets the junk off the hot wire which measures the air flow.
Other brands are Fram , Bosch, Pennzoil,etc.. many of which are manufactured by the same company. Fram makes Pennzoil and sometimes you will open a Pennzoil box to find a orange Fram filter when Pennzoil runs out of a particular part #.![Sad](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/sad.gif)
If you intend to drive a few thousand miles I would recommend a washable filter to save cost over time. Do not expect much in terms of HP if any.

I don't see what's wrong with Toyota filter... or how the others are better. Pricewise, Toyota filters are reasonable and you can bet Lexus engineers put it there for a good reason.
