Default Rear Seat Headrests Block View

I have had my 04 Pebble Beach for about 1 month and am still smiling!! Question - the rear seat headrests partially block the rear window view. Is there a way to adjust things so they are not so promenent? Also - sure wish the back seats folded down to accomodate dog crate - my drive to dog obiedence class would be much nicer in the PB vs. my other car!!

Welcome and congratulations on the purchase, that smile will not go away for a while.

unfortunately the rear headrests are permanent, under the headrests you have the roll bars god forbid you ever flip your car they will save your butt.

Good to save butt - and hope I never flip!!

Waiting for top-down weather here in Maryland but love the ride and look top up or down.

That's not a rear seat. Its a roll-bar cover.

I was told that the car has rear seats to save on insurance.

The rear seats do save on insurance. But I am not sure that is the real reason for the design. Can anyone confirm/deny that?

The insurance was 1/2 that of a same year/value Corvette and Mercedes 500 SL.
Just a few dollars more than my wifes Grand Cherokee.

I believe the idea behind upholstering the rear area in the SC was one of opulence and extravagance; I remember reading somewhere that the SC’s designers did not like the way their competitors just left the back area unfinished. They decided to furnish and upholster the area and give it a refined look, as opposed to just having an empty carpeted space behind the seats. I believe the designers themselves never really intended the seats to be used for passengers but as the cars were given to market the seats were actually utilized

I agree and also that quite a few of the customers in Japan could actually fit back there.

I think the capacity of this car is two adults or one adult and two kids. My two kids ride every day and it has never occurred to them that the quarters are "tight." Of course, it probably helps that their classmates all say, "Wow, cool car!"
