I seem to remember amp problems with some of the '02's, but after I searched I can't find any old posts on the subject. I get loud popping noises out of the radio and it will go to full volume all of a sudden. I assume the amp is going if I remember correctly from those old posts.
How much is a new amp? I know the Mark Levinson is supposed to be great, but are there any cheaper after market solutions that are o.k.?
Any info is greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
Robert

You may also just have a bad rheostat switch (for your volume control). They'll go bad way before an amp will die of natural causes. I don't have any specific knowledge on how/what to do w/the Levinson system, but I'm a radio buff and had that problem with an Alpine unit years ago. It wasn't my amp at all; I replaced the entire volume **** and wiring and it disappeared. Not sure if anyone but the Lexus Dealer will be able to service it... good luck with the problem solving.

I had a bizarre problem like that in my wifes 04 BMW 745 it would go LOUD all of a sudden whenever we would turn a corner.... BMW service thought I was smokin crack when I described issue- took service guy for ride & he was dumbfounded.... long story short they reflashed the ECU problem gone.... Unsure if this will solve the problem on Lexus but may be worth a disconnect of the battery for a few minutes...
