Lexus Serivice Day- Post Warranty
I thought I would share my service day with the group.
Brought my 2002 SC in for the 30,000 mile service. My No.1 Mechanic advised me not to do the whole service ($655.00) and just go ahead with the Tranny fluid and if he saw anything else he would advise me.......which he did not......needless to say it was just as well leaving with a $125.00 drain on my wallet v a $655. drain.
I mentioned a TSB to him (thanks to the forum ) which may or may not have been done on mine- Rear suspension bushings et al. The tech and service writer drill down and found that it was NOT done during warranty period and ordered the parts. Service writer did tell me that with labor this procedure would be a full day and run about a grand in labor alone.
Even though I do have extended warranty in effect LEXUS will cover the whole procedure under GOOD WILL............cost to me is 0.
I also visited the Business Mgr since my extended warranty expiress in 2 months. He can re extend it for $2000. for 3 years up to 72,000 miles.
So , with the refund of the $1200. I spent for the original warranty which has never been used the extension of the extended will run around $800. for another 3 years.
Thought some of you might want to use this warranty and good will info for your benefit. Lexus did extend the VIN numbers to a broader range from the original one so some of your 02-03 models may be in the range and you may not be aware of it..........not a recall but if you tell them it is making noise in the rear that will trigger the VIN search to see if your SC is covered.
