Default Speed-sensitive wipers not working!!!!

Hi there,

In the last week or two the speed-sensing element of my wiper system has ceased to work.

I've done about 3,500 miles since last September and all has been well...

But now the wipers have started to ignore what the vehicle's doing. Whether they are set to intermittent, or speeds 1 or 2, they carry on doing their thing regardless of whether I am stationary or moving.

A bit disappointing to find a fault like this occurring so soon in any luxury car - but especially a Lexus!

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,

Martin

I didn't even know I had this feature!
Today was my first trial, and after 2k miles, it still works.

And why did I need the wipers today?
Well, it wasn't rain in Dallas, TX today!
(see attached photo)

Now what idiot would drive an SC430 in the snow?
Well, maybe an idiot whose PMT (Primary Mode of Transportation) is the ONLY car he has. Have pity on me.

Besides, what's one of the settings for ECT?
And why else do I need traction control other than to involuntarily drop the throttle when I'm trying to enter the tollway at a new speed record? (I hate that thing.)

Fear not, my fellow owners. It's been warm recently, and even though we've had almost 4" on the grass, there's none on the road. So I'm not THAT much of an idiot. I must admit, the "tunnel vision" effect you get driving through a hard snow IS cool.

Sorry, Northerners, but snow Dallas is rare, especially the "perfect kind" -- you remember, wet enough to make an expert snowball, designed for the bully on the block's noggin from a safe enough distance to run for your life.
