OK, talk about stupid. I was reinstalling my climate control panel after installing my iPod control adapter and I accidently dropped it on the gear shift ****. The only damage (Grrrrr.....) was that the clear display cover (that everyone complains gets discolored) is now cracked. Is this part something I can get from the dealer without having to put a 2nd mortgage on my house? Or does anyone have a used-parts dealer suggestion where I may be able to cannibalize one off of an old unit. I am just sick...this car only has 250 miles on it.

I feel for ya -- what a bummer. Don't underestimate eBay for old units to cannibalize.
eBay auction for Climate Control LCD
If that's more than you need, it sounds like the guy running that auction might be able to help.

Boy, that hurts just to read about!
First time I took that climate control module out, I was nervous as heck! Was sure I was going to break my new car! (he hangs out here so I won't go into any details about how bad I mucked things up)
I once installed one the Vais units in someone else's SC430...then I was REALLY nervous!
I think JohnnyCake is leading you down the correct path. Cannibalize a used unit from eBay. It might not be a working unit but, you don't care about the internals...just the housing.

Rumor has it that Mikado Tech in San Francisco can replace the LCD -- send them the unit, they fix and return. FYI -- the car is still drivable without the unit it -- no nav, A/C or top control, but drivable for the few days you're without the control panel. Not sure if Mikado works on the SC430, but I've heard of success with other models. A little pricey from what I understand ($250 or so), but you'd get your brand new unit back with a new LCD instead of someone elses old unit. Good luck. Their info:

Thanks to all for great feedback. I am also going to check in with the dealer I bought it from just to see if they can sell me the just the cover. The display (LCD) is still fine.
