If you check the Car Chat Form (02-25-08, 07:34 PM) you willl see what is supposedly a spy photo of the forthcoming IS convertible. It looks like a folding hardtop and my marginal German seem to confirms that impression.
SC430: your days are numbered? I would have included a link, but my skills are lacking. Tutorial, anyone?

Welcome to the Club!
IS and SC owners are aware of the upcoming IS convertible.
However, both convertibles suit different populations.
The aging SC430, if continued, may live on as the SC460, with V8 smoothness and refinement, and most likely the 8-speed tranny, appropriate for it's cruiser status. It will be far superior to the IS in terms of build quality and luxury amenities.
The IS350 convertible is more of a performance oriented vehicle with a peppy (albeit) V6 engine, matted to a more simple yet efficient 6-speed tranny. Although it is Lexus' entry level convertible, I doubt it will muster the finesse of the SC460.
But that is the future.
For now, the SC430 is quite aged in terms of power, but not refinement, and suits the needs of Lexus for a open-top cruiser.
