Default A/C Light Flashing... No Cold Air

Obviously this is some sort of failure with the AC System.
Has anyone experienced the flashing A/C light?
What was the issue?
How was the issue resolved?
Thanks in advance.

(hoping a refrigerant recharge will fix it)

I have owned 3 lexus vehicles and NEVER had to do a refrigerant recharge. All of my cars were pushed 1XX,XXX miles as well. Good luck to you.

I had a 98 GS 400. The AC compressor lost the cooling charge about 85,000 miles. There we no AC lights that came on it was just no cooling. I took it to a local AC shop. They charged it and put colored dye into the cooling system. I took it back to them in a couple of weeks so they could see where the leak was. (a black light is used to see the colored dye). Unfortunately the leak was from the main seal in the compressor. There is a product called stop leak which they put into the cooling charge. The stop leak worked for a couple of cooling seasons however the compressor eventually the compressor had to be replaced for 1500 bucks. Take it to the dealer or for less cost to a local AC shop. Good luck.

1TYT, you didn't say whether you had cool air from your air conditioner unit. It could be associated with your AC on/off switch if you're still getting AC from the unit. I've personally never heard of a light flashing. Confirm your belt isn't loose before having someone check refrigerant. Might be an easy fix. My .02 cents.

It could be as simple as the A/C relay or sensor.
Does the compressor kick in at all?

My old Supra had an air-con diagnostic mode.

Pressing two of the air- con buttons would do a full system check.

I guess the SC will have this as well?

On my Supra it just needed regassing after about 7 years.

I have just encountered the same problem. In my case it was a problem with the sensor in the A/C clutch. Since Lexus Canada does not sell the sensor I had to buy the entire clutch for about $800.00

The reason the light is flashing is that the computer senses a problem that has locked out the A/C. It could be a high pressure switch or some other electric part. If you get it scanned it may tell you more.

I hope your problem is not as costly but once you fix it you shouldn't encounter it for many years again. Good luck.

congrats, at least you're only out the trouble of taking it in and picking it up. Kudos to the warranty.
