Gas Mileage on SC 430
#3
That is about right............I just did a 1500 mile trip mostly at 80-90mph and average about 25-6 mpg.
I had never tried back road mileage on the computer and was amazed at seeing 30mpg at 4045mph ..............for a V-8 this car does well.
I have a new G-35S and I am lucky if I see 20mpg at constant speed and that is a 6 cyl.

Wow, that's very good.
I drive at a economical speed to work (100 miles/day) at a speed of ~55mph (for the majority of the distance) and I can barely get 24 mpg. This is with cruise control most of the way too and with slow acceleration plus 80 of the 100 miles being highway miles.
I noticed that my drives above 75mph gives me worse mpg (can't make it from San Francisco to LA on one tank if going +80mph all the way...but can barely make it if going 70-75mph).
Perhaps these stock rims and runflats are to blame (+weight)?

if your relying on the computer to give you the MPG keep in mind they are not accurate, not even close. I get around 21.6 on the computer but realistically it is closer to 17-18 with my driving style.

Yeah, I go by my trip odometer
Each week I try to beat what my computer tells me what I can get out of my full tank but the stupid computer has been increasing my "estimate distance" more and more by the week. I've had to come up with creative ways of squeezing out those extra miles each week...but it's getting hard now to beat that number.
When I first got my car, a full tank would be estimated at 360 miles. Now it estimates 375. Of course I get about 360 actual miles before I fill up and it only is about 14.5-15 gallons.

Driving from Dallas to Seattle via LA I used 101 gallons or just under 26MPG.
No faster than 80 in texas and mostly 70 the rest of the way. Cruise control was used 95% of the time.

Yes, I was using the on-board computer. I used to go 75-85 MPH (when I could) but decided to try a go a bit slower (65-75) to see if I could increase the mileage. Approx 390 miles on 3/4 tank.

I usually get 17-18 mpg, calculated by # of miles driven after a full tank, divided by the number of gallons pumped at the next refueling. My driving is about 95% urban city driving with numerous stop lights, stop signs, potholes and psychotic pedestrians.

Computer Accuracy
The first few tanks I did the math and was quite amazed that the computer was very accurate. Within a tenth of a single mpg. That surprised me, as my Nissan is bent towards wildly optimistic.
Trip this week was 600 miles doing about 55 a lot of the way - in the National Parks the speed limit is low. I touched 27.0 mpg at the end based on computer. I was quite happy.

Went to PA from NC and averaged 26 MPG. 1100 miles round trip. 75-80MPH. Cruise Control On. Real calculation as it was the first time I used the computer on a long trip and wanted to check it's accuracy.
I keep my tires pumped up to 37 PSIG. The Pirellis P Zero Neros seem to like that better and it can't hurt gas mileage.
Remember a couple of PSI low in the tires makes a huge difference in gas mileage.
We get 19-20 around town. Outstanding for a 300Hp V-8!
