I would question if you actually do need all of those parts keeping in mind that for all of them to fail at the same time would be unlikely. Most likely as dealers often do they want to do the job the ,"right way" which does cost more. The cable I can see as they stretch. But the other parts? What part of them is defective?

I asked twice today for the defactive parts. I thought the samething about all the parts gone bad at same time. He said some plastic piece got inside that bent the hinge and messed up all the parts

Closer assy 64650-24010
Motor assy. Lu 85790-24010

Gear Assy,Sli 63250-24020

It doesn't make that much sense to me. Also, I asked how much is charge so far, he said he will call me back and never did yet. I still drive free loaner car. I am feeling that I should not take it to the Lexus dealer.

Default How much?

I have not had my SC430 long enough to know where to get used parts, but I suppose you have tried submitting a request to those many on-line salvage yards that send your needs to a network of yards?

I guess a Lexus dealer might let you supply used parts, but I had a bad experience once with a Cadillac dealer who agreed to replace a torque converter with one that I supplied. I got hit with a big bill when that one failed too. I had to sue the salvage yard who refused to honor the warranty. I sued the deep pockets dealer too and he put pressure on the yard to give me back my money. The dealer continued to work on my Cadillacs and there were no hard feelings. Just had to get management's attention.

Please let us know what the Lexus dealer says it is going to cost with new parts that they use on your car. I didn't buy an extended warranty, and would like to know what I might be in for in the future if my top ever stops working. It sure would not be very pleasant to drive around all the time with the top down and have to carry a tarp with me to cover it if it rains. Golly that would look bad for our public image!

I will send you a PM with the number of a place that I have used for gently used SC430 parts before. I called them and they have a complete right hand hinge assy that they are asking $700.00 for the complete hinge. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the great info.
I ordered it and they would not go down on price.
I have to pay $805 total including tax and delivery by tomorrow morning.

They said 1 week warranty on the part.
Is this safe????????

I tried on line part locator. Did not work. My local Lexus advisor told me to get the part outside of his dealer for money saving. I think it is wise to get the extended warranty. I bought mine used and had 77k mile when I bought it so I could not get the extended warranty on it.
