I use the Motorola IHF1000 and am very happy with it. I've heard (anecdotally) that some others have had issues with it. I've had mine in the car for about 2 years now. Used it with both a Razr and my current Treo. Works great.

It's totally voice-driven. No display. I don't have mine integrated into the factory stereo ( I had them install the speaker that comes with the kit...installed way up under the passenger side dash).

It has an audio out and, if you have a VaisTech unit with a spare Aux In, you could run the audio output of the kit into this but, this means that you have to switch audio inputs to answer the phone...not exactly hands-free. So, that's why I didn't go that route.

I just had the Parrot CK3100 handsfree unit installed in my wife's 2003 SC430. It works very well. It's completely integrated into the car. It uses the car stereo speaker for incoming calls along with a small microphone installed near the rear view mirror. It's voice activated and can also be manually dialed using the small handsfree unit. It does have a small LCD screen which displays incoming calls and other information.

We had it professionally installed, since installation is not simple. The pairing with our phone went very quickly and easily. The voice activation works well. Overall, we're very pleased with it. We had the handsfree unit installed in the area where the ashtray was located. It fits deep inside, and when the ashtray door is closed you can't see the unit at all. There are no wires visible.

Anyone have a picture of how the screen looks when installed in the ashtray hole?

I'll see if I can get a good picture later today and upload it tonight or tomorrow. It fits very snugly. It's deep inside the cavity, but can be accessed and used.

Would also like to see some pics of the install. With the new California law taking effect shortly I need a short term solution until I get my next car with it built in.

I'll take some pics this weekend and post them. All you can see is a small microphone, and the small LCD screen unit when the ashtray lid is opened.

I tried to upload the pictures. But even after I changed my camera's setting to take small picture to email, very low resolution (VGA), each file was still just a little too large to upload. If someone can help me with this, I'll take some more pictures and upload them.

Thanks, Mike
