Thumbs up Re Extended My Extended Warranty

I never thought I would do this but I just extended by 2002 SC warranty for another 6 yr and 72.000 more miles. Fidelity is used by Lexus which is a Toyota owner company and for an addtional $1400.00 on top of the $1000. paid for them in 2002 I now have coverage thru 2014 and 120.000 miles.

If I get tired of the same dashboard then warranty makes a great sales tool and is easy to move over to the new owner............and justifies a higher price on a slightly used Lexus.................Just passing it along for all of you.

Enjoy the weekend.

Can you tell me where you got the 6 year 72K warranty? I am considering an extended warranty for my 03 and the best price I've got is $1700 for 7 year 70K. My car only has 8000 miles on it now however it is out of warranty now. That may be the difference in price. Also the $1700 I was quoted was considered bumper to bumper with $100 dollar deductable. If you can let me know who to call I will get a quote from them.

Are you sure your warranty is transferrable? I also got a 6 year/125,000 extended warranty from Lexus when I purchased my wife's 2003 SC430 last year. It is not transferrable. When I asked the finance person, I was told that none of the extended warranties are transferrable. Perhaps yours is different, but you should confirm this. Take care

Nalley Lexus Galleria in Atlanta is where I got the warranty.

Fidelity Platinum is the class of warranty. To clarify- my original warranty when I bought the SC in 02 was an extended one for $1000. over the above for 6 years to go over the factory warranty . I did not use the warranty at all and therefore I was entitled to the full amount less 50 bucks at the end of the warranty period.

Lexus kept the $1000. in credit and then charged me another $1400.for a total cost for the new warranty of $2400. for another 6 years and 72,000 miles .

Yes, I read the clause where IF you sell the car to an individual you can transfer the warranty by writing a letter and showing the new owners registration and a charge of 40 bucks in fees. If you trade the car then the warranty is pro rated in refund thru the original Lexus selling dealer who did the warranty.
Hope this answers both questions. If you need more info or clarrification just advise.

thanks Falcon1:
With that information it looks like the warranty I am considering is a good price. 1700 bucks for a 7 year 70K miles with a 100 dollar deductible. I have no unused warranty to roll over like your 1000 dollars. The warranty I have been offered is also transferable with a 50 dollar fee. I will only put about 8K miles on my car a year so the 7 year 70K miles will work great for me.

Golf- I thought yours was a good deal as well. Like you I drive the SC about 5000 miles per year, Lucky for me all of my pals have SUV types and we always have more gear for the range than the SC can hold.......I do pay dearly though for my share of gas..........ha.

Its a good deal especially as my wrench man at Lexus told me in case the retracto top motors go out or the computer boards.

Great for resale as well.

Hope neither of us have to use it though.

FALCON,

I too live in Atlanta and am considering an extended warranty on my 04 SC. Mine expires in September...

Sounds like you've done your research as far as getting a decent price for another extended warranty. My question is did you check your pricing with other local dealers? I've purchased mine at Hennessy Lexus at Gwinnett so plan on calling them at some point. Any pointers would be well appreciated. I've had my car for about 5 months now and I have no doubt this car will last me long time. Some of my concerns relate to the hardtop mechanism as well as some of the interior finishes (speakers...etc).

So, normally what do the dealers consider when they appraise on you this extended warranty? In other words, if i were to call Nalley and speak to this guy, will he offer me same rate he did for you? $2400???

Let me know. Thanks

Baboya- I would think he would as mine was no special deal .......I had called the Toyota dealer before and he offered me a 3/36 for $2000. for another 4 bills I doulbled it.

If your warranty expires in Sept 08 and its a Fidelity Robert let me just write him a check for the balance and do a letter requesting the warranty refund be sent to the dealer..........Nalley in Alpharetta wanted ME to do a check for $2400.and wait 4-6 weeks for my refund check..........no deal...my money my rules.

Call him now and start a talk with him, nice guy, older gent v the young up and coming so called super stars.............

Any questions after that let me know.

Default atlanta too

Hi all, This is great information for me, a soon to be owner. I have a friend who is a broker and can go to auctions. He is going to find a beautiful blue/ecru for me with low miles that was only driven to church and the market on sundays by a little old lady. However, because I am buying basically sight-unseen, a warranty sounds good to me. My friend isn't a lexus dealer, so i don't feel bad going somewhere else for the warranty. Derek - do you get a rebate or a free lexus keychain or something if i call robert @ Nalley? hmm....that just reminded me, I work at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Lexus (I think it's Nalley) is our "official" car - that hybrid rx400 is pretty cool

...i wonder if i can work out a better deal...

Thanks for the info - maybe i'll see you guys around the mean streets of the ATL.

Comp tickets for 2 would be a nice perk to the Gardens.

I am most interested in covering the retracto top, computers and of course the drivetrain. After coming out of a non warranty Porsche 911 in 2002 I felt the pain of all kinds of problems and swore I would never own another car without a warranty or extended one.

The SC 430 is the only car I can say IF I could not get a warranty on that I would still own based on the last 6 years of reliability.

Falcon,

So I called this week and ask for a quote on my vehicle. (04 w/ 44.7k miles on it) He's saying because it's under 45k miles, it would be significantly cheaper. Quote I got was $2550 for 5yrs/60k miles or $2800 for 6yrs/72k miles with $100 deductible. Both seemed MUCH higher than I anticipated.

Also I was told, the platinum extended warranty thru lexus with $0 deductible covers more items than this fidelity because it's a third party. Is this true?

At this rate, I'm not sure if I still want to pursue getting an extended warranty. Just wayyyy too much.

Did you contact Robert Collier at Nalley Galleria Lexus?
If not do so. That is about right in my estimation. If one of the top motors goes out and you have to buy them in the kit of 13 pieces plus labor OR any of the computer boards or NAV system goes out you will wish you had the warranty.

I had a Porsche 911 out of warranty and spent 5 grand on engine and A/C work before getting the SC. I swore to myself I would not own any car even a Lexus out of warranty unless I had to for financial reasons in dire times.

I did and those are the quotes I received for my car. I was defintely expecting less. Probably around low $2k for 5yr/60k. I was also at the lexus dealer off HWY141 - hennessy lexus yesterday and the service tech mentioned Lexus platinum covers more than this third-party. He did mention Fidelity is one of the larger third-party warranty company but the coverage isn't as good as Lexus.
