Default Tire Recommendations

First, the SC430 is my wife's car and she granny drives it. I need to get 4 new tires because the ones on there now humm like a ho in heat. They are so obnoxious, I will replace them with tread left.

What is a decent tire (no runflats) to put on the SC that provides a decent ride and is quiet. It doesn't have to be a Summer tire so an all season is ok too.

Thanks

You may want to consider BF Goodrich. They're owned by Michelin, and have the same quality standards. I just put the G-force super sports on mine - totally different car than with the runflats. It's a new tire, but most stores can get them in a day. $160/tire. I have no affiliation other than my son manages a tire store and gives me good advice - at least on the subject of tires...

I guess I'm a granny too because I was looking for quiet and smooth. Ended up with the Continental ContiExtremeContacts.

Tirerack.com is a good resource.

WOW this is getting you no where. I put the Brigdstone 960AS on my 03 SC. The tire rack survey rates them #1 and I only paid about 850 bucks installedwith road hazard and lifetime free rotation. I bought them at the Firestone store. Several other Tire stores quoted me much more. They are very smooth, very quite, handle fairly good, and have a 40K mileage warranty. My runflats seemed to handle better however all the testing reports on the Tirerack website says the 960 handle much better. Maybe its the stiffer ride on the runflats that make me think they handle better. I am very happy with the Bridgestones.

I replaced the run-flats the first day I owned my 2008 SC with MICHELIN Pilot® Sport A/S 245/40ZR18 93Y . These tires have given me a comfortable, quiet well controlled ride.

The range of cost in my area for these Michelins and mounting is $1,235 - $1,595. I paid $1,085 using the run-flats in trade.
