been gone a while anyone finding big power yet
Hey all. I have been off here about a year an a half (since I totaled my sc430). I was just curious if anyone has found a way to make good power and response out of the sc yet? Last I knew lee was leading the pack with some headers in there. Someone else had a small n02 shot. I did see the 1 special built wide bodys with twin turbos (which is no longer). Just wanted to see what has been discovered in the last year and half. That was my biggest issue with the sc430. It was hard to mod, slow and not responsive.

Theres a new turbo kit from MVP just come available, you could be the first.. if you still have an SC

If it was just 8 grand I would do it tommorow
You would still need to build the engine to handle it and get the kit fitted. ECU ugrade?
Also worth adding this link as well...

Am I missing something or is there just no way to get a middle-of-the-road perfomance increase with the SC430?
I know you can get 15-20 HP here and there with intake, headers, and exhaust. Seems like the next jump is this ($8,000 for the turbo kit and, if I'm reading your second link correctly, another $15,000 for a motor that can take it). Now, I know this option looks like it would be darn-near bulletproof up to 650 HP but, I don't quite need that.
How do I get 100HP more? Not 100HP more with plenty of room for expansion later; just 100HP up from factory.
I always thought the TOM's supercharger kit was a joke for the price vs. minimal HP gain ($12,100.00 for an additional 50HP).
Is there an answer without spending what I paid for the car AGAIN?
I'm not looking for the "cheap" option - $4,000-7,000 (complete, done, installed, out-the-door, driving-down-the-highway) seems like a resonable price to pay.

Dyno has aleady shown a solid 18hp increase with just headers along with an even better 28lbs of torque. That is a proven.
Intake and exhaust will add from there though not incrementally. 3.76 gears/LSD and Dragon TC are the best bang for the buck. With everything I have taken out a 996 and a few 545s(with ease). It may not give you 100hp but with all of the mods (gearing,tc,etc) it will run the same as adding 75hp to the car. Beyond that the RMM supercharger is the best bet if you can still find one. Performance cost money, it all depends on how much you want.

you might be able to add an SAFC to the SC430. some GS400 owners have had really good results from just adding an SAFC II.

Also, the stock trans is only good for 450hp or so. Even TC and LSD can give the shift logic fits where it will not shift WOT past first unless you let off the throttle. It is slow to respond.

True, but I have yet to meet someone wanting to purchase an SC430, CLK430, etc solely to get a track car. If I wanted speed the SC430 would certainly not be up there on my list. The V8 is part of the package but is not the package as the case in many sports cars. My other car is even slower than the SC is, but again, not about the speed. More HP is always a good thing though.
If I really wanted a ***** out fast sports car the Supra would be at the top of the list. So many proven options available for it. Vette would be up there also.

I bought my SC for this sole purpose
Then again, I've always been the type to march to the beat of my own drum (as evidence of my "unique" SC430 styling). Staying with my "out side of the box" way of thinking and response to the question about adding intermediate HP: Lighten the weight of your car. It "adds" to your HP in a different way.
Losing 100 or 200 pounds (or more) can improve your performance in a greener way

I'm in the same boat. Being a newb to the SC, and tainted by all the after-market goodies available for say, a Vette, I was hoping I could find decent HP and TQ increases, for decent money.
I was initially thinking intake, headers, exhaust, and "chip" (if there is such a thing), and maybe get 50-60 HP for say $5 - 7k. and one of those gas pedal devices to get rid of that darn acellerator lag.
Has anyone done just those things with success, and what performance increases did you get?

Whats the weakest engine parts?
I guess the rods but are the pistons still pretty good with boost upto say 450 rwhp. Im thinking of ordering some Lextreme rods as he has a $200 off discount for the rest of the month. But do you think I should also uprate the pistons as well?
