IS convertible vs SC430

The SC430 is a beautiful looking car with the top either up or down. From what I've seen of it so far, the IS convertible isn't nearly as attractive with the top up.

I drove an ISc this morning. It's a very nice car. That being said, it's apples-to-oranges compared to the SC. The driving position in the ISc is much higher, the ride much softer and it leans much more when turning, compared to the SC. It DID have that new car smell, though....

Lexus could if they really wanted to. They have the resources. There are many possiblities. Let's think about for a few minutes.
Third generation SC 460 sporting a 4.6 liter V8 engine (382 hp) which compares to the BMW 650 (360 hp).
An SC-F with the LF-A's V10 (500 hp) engine would be awesome which compares to the BMW M6 (500 hp).

The next SC, or Lexus' next GT (grand tourer) series (since i believe as of now they said the SC-line is cancelled or 'paused' etc) more than likely will be the LF-A concept they shown.

We stopped by the San Antonio Lexus to see their (presently) one and only IS convertible, and while it is definitely the best looking of the "big" hardtop convertibles we've seen (far better than the BMW for sure), it is still just a big car with a convertible hardtop to us.
Not in the sports car category at all and we were quite happy to be driving away in our SC430.
That said, it will probably be a good seller to those who might have drooled over a 430 but didn't want to fork over the bucks, OR those who need more room than the 430.

The IS-C looks like a Lexus-influenced Solara. The styling is too bland and conservative. There are subtle styling cues from the Solara Convertible, and I personally think the SC430 is still in a league of its own overall. Performance may be more sporty on the IS-C, but that's not enough to compare it to the SC430! Just my two cents...
