Thumbs up This stuff works.

As you can see, the machine glaze polish really did the trick -- worth every penny.

Almost like magic the debadge ghost is totally gone.
Thanks TnESC300 for the big tip.

The polish worked so well that I hand polished/waxed the passenger side finish that had been become water spotted (the sun here is intense and not to be messed with). I used a med. firm rotary polishing motion while wet and a light finish as it dried. Two passes per 2 foot square did the trick.

The passenger side finish now looks professionally detailed, like water.
As soon as my right arm comes back, I'll polish the driver side to wrap it up.

And to wrap up this thread, I think I'll keep the 'L' logo OEM.
If I really get the itch, I'll paint the emblem down stream, but for now the tail looks great.

Thanks again for all the great comments and suggestions.
That's why this forum is a cool thing.

Jimmer

hey any time man. If you have any other questions about polishing and whatnot shoot me an email or a PM. It looks really good. And good call on keeping the L logo. It looks great from the angle of the photo. You should look into doing the tail light upgrade. Swapping the tail lights you currently have for the newer ones. The rear of the car will really pop then. Just a thought. Anyway glad to e of some use.

That's some serious shine going on there!

I especially like the self-portrait reflected in the bumper.

yes, this machine glaze polish is a real breakthrough for me.
mild enough not to go down to the paint (like rubbing compound) and just enough to get the clear coat scratches out. good stuff!

previously, I was thinking about spending the coin to have the exterior detailed, but no longer.
and I really enjoyed the time spent with my 430.

thanks again. jimmer

OK, I'll take you up on it: how do you go about a polish and wax?
what's your process, technique and materials used? (in detail)

Hi Jimmer,
You should check out the Automotive Care & Detailing Forum; it's extremely helpful, from the basics to the real technical.... it's been a wealth of information for me and many others on CL.
By the way, nice shine job!

You don't want to know. I'm kidding, I was taught to use buffers and all that but honestly I like to do that all by hand. I feel it gives you a better feel for imperfections and all that. I like Maguire's stuff really. I usually try to stick with the same stuff I used at school because it was it was really good stuff. Maquire's is the closest thing to that. Other than that Griot's is really good as well. So I would look into those things. For interior to remove dust nothing beats a microfiber cloth. I'm not really a fan of wipes for cleaning up the interior and polishing stuff so I would use like washed rags, always white and use those for the inside. I never mix my cleaning stuff either. I keep everything label and together. I'm **** like that. Believe it or not I like my kitchen kept the same way. Anyway, for wax and polish I just use basic wax and polish applicator pads

the tip about checking out the care and detailing forum will broaden my site horizon.
I've been using mother's, but I'm open to new products.
