I was using a motorola razer v3 since i got the car 4 years ago. Worked fine only issue was I had to upload contact phone numbers one at a time . The razer finally broke. I bought the apple I phone 3G . I just assumed [ first mistake ] that the phone was compatible ] Yes I can make and receive calls with it . I am able to use any numbers that are in my address book that is saved to the lexus blue tooth phone address book [ I priviously loaded them with the razor ] However I now find out that I can no longer upload any of the contacts that are new that I added to my i phone 3g . If i want to use the numbers i think i can dial them from the phone when it is hooked up to the bluetooth of the car. I callled apple and they confirmed that i cant upload any numbers So i have to use another blue tooth phone. I have a samsung that does work so i now carry both phones one to upload any new contacts to the lexus and the i phone to make calls. Seems pretty stupid that apple did not add that feature to the phone. They claim they made the phone to be controlled by the phone not by a navigation linked blue tooth phone system . Huh I dont get it . Any one know how to hack the numbers in via the i phone or am I just stuck with carrying 2 phones

iPhone doesn't have the Bluetooth Push functionality required to load numbers. I keep my old phone in the glove box for uploading numbers. Not that big a deal to me.

Can you still upload the contact from the old phone with an unregestered sim. Will the upload function to the car. Are you able to dial the calls from the i phone itself and still have the mike and speaker in the car work.
Thanks

You can use the old phone with no sim -- works fine. You can dial from the iPhone itself and use the in-car bluetooth no problem. You can also use the phone numbers already in the car (that you load with your other phone) and dial from the Nav screen using your iPhone and the in-car kit. Everything works just like with your Razr, only difference is that you can't get the numbers into the car with the iPhone. Once they are in, no difference. I do get a little burst of interference when I initiate my calls, though (may 1/3 of the time).
