Default Toyota dealer oil change experience (not Good)

I took my newly aquired 02 sc430 for its 1st oil change. I chose the local Toyota dealer instead of Lexus which is over an hour away. After getting home I looked at the reciept an saw I was charged for 8 qts of oil, I looked up the owners manual which says it takes 5.5 qts. I called the Toyata dealer to complain and was told "Sir that's a big v8 in your car".getting noware I called The Lexus dealer who confirmed it should be 6 qts. I called the Toyota dealer told them to call lexus to confirm my statement which they did and will give me a 2 qt credit on my next oil change.. They charged me 79.95 , I think I may drive to the Lexus dealer next time. What do you Cl members pay for non diy oil changes for Mobil one? The oil level was good on the dipstick

"A big V8 in your car" LOL. They obviuosly have no idea what they are talking about. The V8s in our cars is a 4.3 L, 262ci engine. Ya that a big one LOL.

funny and just a coincidence, but I was calling for my first oil change for my new used 04 as I read your thread.
he gave me a quote of $42 + tax and said it takes 8 quarts.
I kindly challenge him that it's 6, but he stuck to 8 qt.
$42 ain't bad, though.

Hope they didn't put that much oil in, because you may want to drawn off a little

Different car, same engine but I just took my car to Toyota (GS430) and they charged me for 5 quarts. I was concerned until I checked the dipstick leaving the dealer which confirmed it to be full. Leads me to believe it was just a default. Asst. Service Manager is a friend of a friend (used to work together at Acura) which netted me a nice discount so maybe that was the reason? Either way, I always check my oil before driving off after an oil change, because you just never know. My bill and you experience are good examples of that.
