Weird reason for loss of tire pressure. Anyone hear of this?

My wife drives this car daily so I will have to find a time to give it a shot.
The tire shop is only a few minutes away so it sounds doable. I think I'll put the car up on stands and remove the wheels. Take the wheels with tires to the tire shop and have the tires removed. Bring the wheels home and repair as you specify etc. Looks like a 4-6 hour job but in the end I think I'll be much happier.
Thanks for the feedback on this.

I am having a similar problem with the right front tire, only it loses pressure when I go on an extended drive of 50 miles or so at speed. I think it is that the tire is heating up while driving, and loses pressure as it sits at night and cools down. Low tire pressure sensor warning comes on the morning after (no morning after jokes, please)! Sorry to hear of similar problems, but at least I have several paths forward! Off to Discount Tire and Lowes this afternoon.

This thread covers the possibilities pretty well: rim leaking due to corrosion, or bead defect; valve-stem/valve-core/TPS (use new sealing washer, etc); something penetrating the tire (unlikely). I would focus on the rim and bead, or the seals with the valve-stem and TPS. Sounds like as the tire heats up things are squishing around and you are losing seal.
They should break down the wheel/tire and systematically inspect. My wife's Chevy has a slow leak that I suspect is due to rim/bead - so I'm going to take my own advice here!

An update from the last post. I took the car to Discount Tire, ho had installed 3 of the 4 tires. Unfortunately, this one had been installed by the guy I bought it from. It turned out that the tire pressure sensor had corrosion on it. Drove around town and 25 miles down the freeway, and all is well.

After 3 weeks overseas trip found 1 of the tires flat. After few weeks of low tire pressure every few days, went for wheel balancing / rotation and complained about the tire, he said looks OK, soon realized bad wheel balancing job, returned and asked the other guy to check out the tire, he showed me the wheel is slightly damaged and will not be able to balance right, I said OK. I drive around feel the balancing is OK and the tire was holding pressure, Now its more than a week the tire is fine.

Lead Lap
I had this problem years ago on another vehicle with alloy rims. The wheel itself was porous along the body of the rim. The tyres place at the time sealed all along the inside of the rim (basically removed the tyre and sprayed the rim " body" with some sort of rubberized sealant) remounted the tyres etc and it was good from there on.
