Exclamation noise(?) coming from AC Conditioner

whenever i turn on the AC, i always hear this "hissing" sound coming from the left of the dash

when i turn off the AC, the hiss goes away

i took it to the dealer, the tech told me it's normal since the high pressure air goes through low pressure bla bla bla....so the hose makes some noise

i am just wondering, am i being too sensitive or this is not normal?

thanks

I live in the north east I have a 2005 When I use it in the summer most of the time I have the top down so I might not hear the noise. I dont think the car should make any noise I would try another dealer. What year is your car
and did this noisejust start or was it allways there

I got the same problem. It's most annoying when idling at a stop... it's faint but high-pitched. Wish I could figure out how to fix it...

AC on only or any vent air causes this noise? AC itself will not cause a higher pressure of air to come through the vents. The blower motor causes the air pressure. If your getting noise from the left vent I would look into an air leak there (lined with a little felt from the factory) or perhaps something got sucked into the system and is causing the noise.

Mine's a gs430, so lotsa the same parts. And yeah, mine comes from the far left air vent, only when the AC is on.
