Default Raise/Lower Roof at 20mph????? possible?

Hello everyone...... just wanted to ask, is there a module, or Company, and maybe a "C-BEST" dealer operated function that can Lower/Raise our hard top while moving no more than 15mph (~20mph at most)?

this function is soo important. Porsche,BMW, Mercedes have them all. I'm sure there has to be a way/company that can do this.

Nope, dont see the need for it TBH. Its no doubt more feasible in a rag top as less drag/weight etc. Although I tried to do it once in a 3 series and it locked up halfway.. looked a right prat

Takes 20 seconds, if im at the lights with traffic behind let them wait

Why would you possibly want to do that?

Have you ever tried running with a large kite in tow? Not done easily...
There's a huge amount of drag. I doubt any one of us here can take an item as large and flat as our trunks and run with it (to get an idea of how much wind resistance is involved).

Now try to imagine how much stress you will be placing on the joints/hinges of our trunks if the car was moving at ~20MPH (which is a lot faster than you would think).

thanks for the replys fellas...... I guess 20mph was/maybe too fast..... but have you seen a Porsche, BMW, Benz close their hard/soft tops coming to a stop light or moving forward slowly..... ..... amazing.....

so, ok, 20mph is too fast, b/c of the drag/sail you mentioned...... how about at 10mph then?

you have to see it before you comment..... thanks.....

There is a car or two that are designed to be able to raise and lower the top at speed, but the SC430 is not one of them. You'd likely damage something if there was any kind of a wind.

the sl550 you can go 10+mph when doing the top?

that's a very bad idea. hard top and soft top are two very different things, hard top is A LOT heavier and all the joints are handling heavy stress when working. having more wind pressure is not a good idea

soft top cars a lot of times they allow operation at "higher" speed coz' they are much lighter. but hard top, big no-no

on the sc430, i forgot already, but i believe 4mph is the limit?
