Is the SC430 an old person's car?

Obese......I'm big, not obese. I look like a guy who used to play football.
I guess the AMA definition would call me obese but no one I know considers me that.
I've already sat in the G37 and I felt more comfortable than in the SC430 or my GS350. Had I been sure it was gonna be more comfy than the G35, I would have waited for it.

a friend has a G37 and i've driven it a few times. i'm 6'2" and personally, i feel like i have more room in the SC, as the seats are more adjustable. but to each his own.

and those sport bucket seats that gave good lateral support in the G37/G35 coupes, while appropiate for a good handling sports coupe, can be a bad fit for people with a wide girth ...

the SC430's front leg room is 43.6". the G37 is 43.8". i guess that two tenths of an inch makes all the difference

Plus, the seatback doesn't recline enough for me. It hits the rear seat and can't go any further. It have to sith too horizontal. I like to lean back. That's where the belly interferes.

I'm only 5'7", yet I drive with my seat and seatback all the way back... I think fitment has to do with not only body size and shape, but also preferred driving position as well. I position the seat in our LX470 the same way..... Also, when I drive my Mom's G35 coupe, I set the seat all the way back, yet I feel more confined than in my SC; the seats have thicker side-bolsters and the center console interferes more with my driving position. My 2c.

Inaccurate.......what the heck.....now you're telling me how I felt in the car. Look, I love coupes. Since I'm a Lexus lover that left me with only the SC300/400 or the SC430 to choose from. Has the 300/400 and wanted a newer car. I tried sitting in the 430 many times. I almost just gave in but I couldn't pay that much coin to be uncomfortable....and that's what I was uncomfortable. Maybe some of you taller guys are okay bending your knees in a car but I want mine to be stretched out. I'm 6-2 270 lbs. I was 285 lbs when I was shopping the SC430. I have a shorter torso, meaning my legs are the length of a taller person, with big thighs. Plus I have a belly (not as big as a beer gut but there is a belly) and sore knees from HS/college football.
Bottom line, I need a lot of legroom. The SC430 just didn't make me feel comfortable. I'm not really as comfy in the GS as I'd like to be. The car has narrow door openings and just barely satisfies my legroom requirements. Lexus just doesn't get it. It seems only the trucks, the LS and the SC300/400 fit me well enough.
It isn't just me. You ever see guys my size in the SC430? No.

Lexus left out all us medium to big guys when they made this thing."
Which as you can tell from the posts by some rather big fellas is, well, inaccurate. I was not telling you how you felt in the car - not sure where you read that. Simply commenting that your subjective view of the comfort of the car is an inaccurate generalization.

Allow me to post again . I've had the pleasure of meeting Ice before and we are both big guys. I am 6"5, 240 (and trying to lose weight forever lol).
I also fit in the SC 430 fine. I actually find the Lexus I fit in best to be the IS 300 and SC 300/400. The legroom in both are tremendous TO ME, I don't care what the brochure says. Maybe its b/c the seats are designed with more sport than comfort in mind, so they have less padding. Not sure. I do also have to say the LS 430 is tremendous to sit in. The LS 460L I fit fine too but I EXPECT too, so I don't even want to bring it up.
As for the SC 430 I've never had an issue. I will say like the GS, I do have to get "comfy" inside and adjust things properly. If I don't it will feel a lil tight or I might hit something with my leg. However once I take the time to adjust, its fine.
Its ironic to me I fit in the Lexus with the SMALLEST cabins fine and in the larger cars, I find them actually tougher to get fully comfortable.

Don't get offended, everybody on this message board seems like fun loving types. But I'm driving around the SF Bay Area and I seem to be the only guy under 50, let alone 35 driving a 2nd gen SC. Plenty of young dudes driving the first gen though. I should of got an IS-F, except it's too small for me and I really wanted a convertible. I like sitting in it and driving it, I'm probably just too self consious. But it doesn't help that all my friends started calling me "old man" when they found out I like to eat at places like Harry's Hofbrau.
Old guys have more money. They can afford a $70K car better than young guys. It's not an old guys' car, it takes an old guys' money.
