Default Shift panel was actually painted plastic.

We have a brand new ☺ Silver SC, mostly beautiful condition for a 13 yr old car with 92,000 miles. The gear panel is scratched, especially the coin lid. Searched everywhere for a replacement, no luck. Would appreciate any suggestions.
love the growl of the motor on this car and can it fly!

Its been a year, and today I found the seat heaters. It hasnt been cold enough. But last night I took a trip with a friend in her new Ford Escalade..She turned on the seat heaters, it was down to 39F and we were freezing our butts off. I commented that I needed those in the SC. I have them in the LS but didnt know the SC had them till this morning. Temps were still down to 40 so I looked for them. They are not on the dash on the SC like they are on the LS. BUT they were better than her Ford...both seat AND back were heated!!! Her Ford only did the backs! I am glad it took a year to find them...thats a comment on our weather!!!

I've owned my 2003 for just over 4 years. I knew the seat belts had the little lights in the buckle. What I didn't necessarily realize is that the buckle only lights up for the side of which the door was opened.
When I was in the driver's seat with the door opened, I noticed the passenger's side was not lit. I was contemplating tearing into the passenger's side to fix it. But shortly thereafter, while scrubbing the floor mat on the passenger side, I noticed it was lit up too!! Phew ....

Funny, I was thinking to bring this thread back. I don’t have any new discovery to share but this thread has lots of infos that could help new SC owners. It’s fun to read too. Thanks for brought it back.

So just going through this, lots of good stuff. We do not own a SC430 yet but probably will on thursday going to go look at a 2010. QUESTION... those mirrors that tilt down when in reverse, is there anyway to disable that? I'm old and use my mirrors to back up and I dont want to look at the ground!

Yes. Set the switch to the center.

I have a gen 2/3 DVD player in my 2002 that had the original disk from 2000. I bought the latest official Toyota/Lexus gen 2/3 map disks (east and west) on eBay and the system won't recognize either of the new disks. It now doesn't recognize the original disk, eiher. The dealer says something that I don't understand: that the new disk won't work in my car because it already was used in another car. Does this make sense? He also says that, because the system now won't read the original disk, it likely needs a new navigation computer that would cost $2200!

This sounds nuts. Has anyone installed a modern nav system in the original dash housing, with the cover still opening and closing? I'd like to retain the ML system as the radio is not as important to me and I'd just as well keep that original. Thanks for suggestions and technical insights.

JM2C, the issue might not be your NAV, it could be a bad DVD, considering it could be a hacked copy. JM2C. Good luck with your debugging. And welcome to ClubLexus.

Thanks. It's not a hacked copy. It's a Toyota/Lexus DVD. And the Nav now won't read the original 2000 disk, which has been in the car for 23 years and worked when I bought the car 32 days ago.
