Surprising things you learned about the SC long after buying it

Lead Lap
We have used them. Put full sized (not oversized though) adults back there, but it was a very short jaunt. Used the seat belts. I believe that folks with car seats (for kids) have used them also. I know that the seats are popular with kids also. I know of several folks whose kids (and grandkids) love to ride back there.

Bump.
I really like the set button (near up/down vol) on the steering wheel for radio volume control.
I drive 90% of time with top down, and i set that button for loud volume for when i drive fwy speeds w top down. This way i can instantly jump the volume when reaching 75-80 after city driving at lower volume
Also like how headrests manually tilt forward

From the new features info:
"In addition to the rear pole antenna, which serves as the main antenna, a sub-FM antenna has been embedded in the front windshield to improve reception sensitivity."
Translation: It's there to improve multi-path interference problems.
Sometimes FM radio sounds staticy and bad because of multipath interference. Multipath happens when FM signals bounce around between the buildings in a city, or other large obstructions. The static is more noticeable when moving but it is possible to stop your car in a path, this is a telltale sign that it is indeed multipath.

Did anyone know this I sure didn't, found out today and tried and it works. When you put the top back up the quarter windows don't auto open so I had to put the top up a little way then press open and they opened and then I could put the top up.
Closing the quarter windows
1. Turn the ignition switch on.
2. Turn the trunk lid opener main switch (in the glove box) from the operative position to the inoperative position
(in the canceled position)
3. Push the "OPEN/CLOSE" switch on the "OPEN" side twice slowly, within 10 seconds after Step 2.
4. Hold down the same switch on the "CLOSE" side once within 10 seconds after Step 3.
The quarter windows will close.

Hey all,
I found out the other day that the top has what appear to be a failsafe component. My top stoped in mid air and would not respond after this. I knew there could not have been a problem because it has been working fine. Well, instead of not moving the car, I decided to do so. To my surprise, the car started to beep and the top went down on the frist attemp of closing. Now, the big question is what made it stop in the first place? However, it is working fine so far.

Does anyone's SC side mirrors point down when you put it in reverse? Why do all other Lexus cars do it but the SC? maybe it was a certain year thing?
I used the headlight levelers/adjusters for the first time and the headlight washers just messing around with the car the other day. These two features are often underestimated but are very cool!
Also, the emergency top down, and security features of this car were well ahead of their time!!

Considering the weakness of the mirror motor compoents, I leave mine in the middle.

For the mirrors to move when the car is shifted into reverse the mirror selection switch must be in the left or right position, if its in the middle they wont move.

Hi Bob,
I do not know how your car works but mine works just the opposite; they will tilt when the selector is in the R or L position but does not move when the selector is in the center position.
Mine is an '02,
Jerry Baumchen
PS) My BMW would tilt no matter what position was selected; I think, it's been awhile since I sold that car.
