my buttons are sticking on my ac fan vent settings etc buttons, due to a small amount of sweetened tea spilled on them what will break that crap up, i tried electrical contact cleaner and dampening em up to no avail. will silicone sprays etc, jack the inside of the switches up. thx

I would spray mist again with alcohol and then use a can of compressed air [ computer spray ] if this did not work its a simple job to pull out the air conditioning control unit and then you can open it up from the rear and really clean up the buttons. there could be a gasket or a membrane that slips around the buttons making it difficult to clean them with out doing it from the back. Emai me if you need more help to remove the air cond control head

Once you finally get it done and unstuck...........betya no more sweet tea.

I have a mantra in my SC..............no food, no drinks..........only water and decent cigars allowed.

Grandkids hate it.

I gotta say that I think WD40 would be a terrible choice for this application. It is good for cleaning sticky residue (like you have) but only when you can wipe it clean after it does its thing. WD40 leaves a sticky residue that can attract dust, which is why it says never to use it on locks, for example. Since your sticky stuff is in an area you can't really access easily, I think WD40 might just make your problem worse over time.

Did the Tea have sugar in it? If it did then you really are going to have to get in there and flush it out. No Oil or silicone is going to work.

Hot water will work but you run the risk of damaging the electronics . You may have to remove the head as I suggested .
