Default Final Verdict Unclear on DRL's: Can you just replace the 9905 high beams to get HID?

Okay, I searched and searched and found lots of great dialogue with many different results regarding the ugly yellowish DRL's we have on our SC's. Some people say you need to do a CBEST disable at the dealer for $60 and then add a HID kit. Some say all you need to do is swap out the high beam 9005 bulb with a Silverstar or 6000k bulb that matches closely the stock HID and some people say that parking lamp bulb when removed and replaced with a HID disables for some reason the DRL light. Some others say you can just pull the DRL out and have no warning lights go off.

Just to be clear, I would like the DRL's to be on during the day but just with a HID look, AND I want to change out that other little bulb up top to HID look.

what are my BEST options? Thanks!

no halogen bulbs will help, drl is running at 50% power. disabling is ok, but then you won't have any drl, if that's what you want

you can do hid kits, but you need relay otherwise hid will flicker

i know they make something for the 2is thats sounds like what your looking for and can be purchased from v-leds, but you end up loosing your high beam function and there seems to be some type of flickering issue.

do you 100% want your DRLs on during the day?
DRLs turn off when your turn on your high beams, so if your just looking to get that light (thats in the center housing) to match your HIDs at night, you can just go to dealer, convince them to disable your DRLs (so they wont be on during the day). and then just replace the small 168 parking light bulb to a hyperwhite piaa or polarag bulb Or LED.

if the consensus is I can never get my DRL's to be HID without massive pain and expense, then I like your dealer idea to disable DRL and replace the small bulb. At least that will be a cooler look SOME time during day/night, right???

love your pebble beach car, by the way DH784123

What if you replaced your 9005 with a Xenon HID conversion kit, they have 9005 Hi/Lo. I think the Hi/Lo was made for DRL during the day and High beam when needed. This would give you a perfect HID look for your DRL. Does anyone know for sure if I am correct on the Hi/Lo?

Good question, I wonder if they would run at half power like the orig. DRL
