This can't be normal, is it???
You just put the shifter in whatever gear you want to be in, and yes it is normal, that is why the gate is there.

From reading this thread, make me realize I have never turn off the VSC, I am gonna try it to see how much more fun it brings

Don't most automatic transmissions not allow you to go far into the red line? Like that rev limiter thing?

well just to refresh things the next time you drive a 02 430 while shifting from l-2, 2-3 etc redline it then shift, do that a couple of times and say hello to a f****d up tranny..

all im trying to say that im speaking from experience, i had my tranny rebuilt once do to that!(not trying to be a hard head)

any tranny will wear out when you push it for long enough, it's nothing new. that's the same on any cars, even if it's a 06+ sc430. if you go redline and you see it bounce on the redline, that means it has rev limter, period. otherwise you will just keep on seeing the rpm go up until it blows
