2006+ owners: How much "fun" is your manual shift on your SC430?

I am bored with my 2002 and am considering all options to make it more fun, and one of the biggest things I miss in this sports car is the ability to shift.
so, for you 2006+ owners, how responsive and fun is the manumatic shifter on your cars? It is as responsive as the IS250/350 (non paddle, of course)?
Or is it more like an afterthought gizmo like on a Chrysler Pacifica or other lame cars/suv's that have this option now?
The ES is ok in manumatic. I haven't driven the GS or LS in that mode, but the IS is a blast.
Thanks

Its ****in awesome
Heres how I would rate how to make the ride as fun as possible, from least fun, to most fun at the bottom
-> PWR OFF, VSC ON, Automatic in "D"
-> PWR ON, VSC ON, Automatic in "D"
(-> PWR ON, VSC ON, Tiptronic shifter)
-> PWR ON, VSC OFF, Automatic in "D"
-> PWR ON, VSC OFF, Tiptronic shifter
Until you turn VSC off you generally wont get ****in awesome burn outs and tire spinning.
Fwiw theres something ****ed with sc430 computers when you have vsc enabled. Like if you gas it around 3000 rpms the car seems to stagger a bit. I think its just the vsc making sure you get no spinning tires, but its not that fun and it definitely affects your accleration in my experience.

I have an '06 and don't use it that often. sc430guy is right re: VSC. With that off and the manual shifter in use the car is MUCH quicker. As far as using it day in and day out that's really a personal choice. When I do use it, I am more than satisfied with its performance.
YMMV

I've had my 06 for about 3 months and am just now getting it out of the garage regularly (thank God for Spring), but have not used the manual shift. If I want I want a little more gitty up, power ON, but other than that I don't think I will be shifting manually much, if at all. If I wanted a manual tranny I'd want a clutch pedal and a stick, shifting with a switch seems a bit girly. Just my 2 cents...

thanks for your replies. I am considering selling my 2002 and getting a 2006+ the only MAJOR problem is I love absolute red and the last year was 2005 with the old tranny.
I am going to drive a 2006+ and see if I like it and if it compares at all to a "fun" manumatic. My Infiniti FX is a BLAST in manumatic and my old G35 was too. it is actually better than a clutch!!!
So, if I understand you guys correctly, I can shift on a 2002 as well and taking the VSC off will be faster too? I am not too worried about burnouts...did plenty of those in my Mazda RX7, Toyota Supra and 300ZX Twin Turbo days!

im talking about shifting into a higher gear, our cars dont have a rev limiter, for example if i were in L and i punch the gas pedal and never shift to second it will just keep redlining until your eng blows eventually (god forbid) and if you dont get to that point you will at least do some damage to the tranny! so all im trying to say is becareful cuz the car acts a couple of milliseconds after you do(shifting)

okay I must be stupid but how the hell does a 02-05 shift? I believe you have D, then move to the left and you have 2, 3 and 4, right? So you are saying to just rev up to 5k or so being carefull not to rev too high and then punch it up to 3, then 4???
reminds me of bootleg shifting in my old chevelle SS auto transmission!
This can't be normal, is it???
