I put the 960 pole positions on and took the car back in for a rebalance.Tires seem to flatspot overnight,my other bridgestones didn't flatspot if left for weeks between drives.Americas tire gives you 30 days to return the tires and upgrade, they suggest the Michelin a/s plus tires because of their newer design. 40 bucks more per tire though, don't buy the extra protection, they have 50,000 tread life warranty compared to 40,000 for the pp.

I've have had really good experience with the Toyo Proxies 4. Not sure if they have them in the sizes you needed, but I easily put 25k miles on a set off my IS and they had plenty of tread left.

I have had the 960 Pole Positions on my car for a few months and have not experienced the flatspotting at all.

bridgestone re960 = flatspot if not being driven for weeks....it happened to my g35 coupe twice the last 2 winters!!! I have had bridgestone ps03 (loud noise after 10k mile)., bridgestone re505a was ok., re960, tried them twice, won't go back now. Townfair Tires recomended the new Bridgestone 760a(I think that what he says) but not available yet. I just went with Yokohama S.drive, reasonable and so far so good. I was going with Toyo T1r but the manager at Townfair Tires suggested Yoko S drive first for 30 days with no obligation.....reaching 500+ mile now, I think I stay with them. Smooth, no road noise and sticky sticky sticky!!! My two cents

What's a flat spot?
Is this a loss of air pressure of the tire?

Well, after reading all the reviews from the web and other folks who have the RE960AS pole positions, they seemd quite happy w/ the brand. very quiet and an overall good tire in most categories of wet/dry, handling/conering, ride/noise. They averaged in the mid 8 range on a scale of 1-10. Given that they won't corner as well as the Michelin PS2's, but they ranked fairly close to them.

I just ordered a set of 4 of the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires:

Ultra-High Performance All Season
245/40/R18
93W
400 AA A (UTQG)

I got them from tirerack.com.
good pricing and they got a special going on right now.
I saved $400 on a set of these compared to the PS2's.

We'll see how these run after they go on later this week and I'll post my feedback.

thanks...

Flat spotting is pronouced wheel thumping until the tire warms up. You may not experience it as much in your mild climate or if you drive everyday,or if they made your tires somewhere other than mexico.LOL! Good luck with them,I like them, just have to drive on them some more.

Well, I just got the new tires installed today and tested them out on the local streets and highway speeds (up to 80 mph).

Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position
-----------------------------------------
Ultra-High Performance All Season
245/40/R18
93W
400 AA A (UTQG)

First impression is that these tires felt softer and more comfortable than the Michelin A/S and PS2. However, the A/S & PS2 have a better grip around the corners and handles better from my previous experience.

But the very low noise level of the RE960AS sure made up for those downgraded factors. Grip and handling is very good but just a step down from the Michelin's.

On local streets (35-45mph), the smooth ride was comfortable and enjoyable w/ the windows up and/or down.

On highways (65-80mph), noise level is practically diminished from the outside world w/ the windows up. The car was stable and solid riding these tires. It felt like I just bought the car for the first time from the dealership.

The Michelin A/S and PS2 tires had more aggressive tread patterns compared to these Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS's.

Overall, I'm satisfied w/ these so far and we'll see how they perform in the long run.

How much do the local dealers usually charge to change tire that you buy from Tirerack and how do you make sure they are not going to ruin your BBS rims when they change them?
