Wider wheel stance.

Wider wheel stance.
I am a wheel noob. I wanted to fill out the rear wheel well better with a wider stance. I thought that if I bought a wider wheel... like a 18x 9.5 that it would do the trick. But I am noticing that on sites like Discount Tire they continue to recommend the OEM tire width of 245. How do I accomplish a wider stance? Thats all I want. (I am under the impression that spacers are bad). Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

if you're going to buy new wheels, you might consider 19" or 20" wheels, as they'll look better. if you go with a 9.5" width in the back, i'd say a +20 offset would put the wheels about flush with the fender.

Thank you both. I wasn't sure what sort of offset I could afford to go with. I am going to probably go with 19's. Don't want to give up too much sidewall... just looking for something purely based on filling out the width of the wheel well.

i put a set of 18x9.5 offset is +35 i believe on back. 8 inch on front with +38 offset. LOOKS way better.
jus barely inside the wheel wells in back and front.
i think a +20 would stick out a bit? if you figure thats only a half inch + of mine you may be right on the edge.
paid around 1200 bucks mounted balanced and delivered with new lugs and hubcentric rings. from discout tire direct

i'd check the wheels classified forum. you can generally pick up a set of used wheels in good condition for about half price. also, check the g35 forums. they have the same fitment more or less. and they tend to go with aggressive offsets if that's what you're looking for.
