Wind noise...

...with the top up, of course. ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Anyways, when the top is closed, there is wind noise where the windshield connects to the roof. Goes across from the driver to passenger sides.
Other than changing the rubber lining, are there any hints or tricks to decrease the noise? Some type of reinforcement or padding that I can use?

Henry may be right about the TSB, but I don't remember it, nor has my 2002 ever been serviced for it. Maybe it's a BMW thing... ![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I thought I remembered only one person complaining of wind noise in that area, but I couldn't find the thread with a search.
I'd say it's very rare, and the fix could be what you suggested. Otherwise, it's a cable (extemely rare) being too loose or a tad off-track. But because of the rarity, I'd lean toward your suggestion, especially if your roof seems to be working and sounding normal during the up-down.

The main wind noise that I notice, the dealership said that it is the rear view mirror. (I've never been able to pinpoint its source, though I haven't tried very hard.) They also told me that the noise I hear is normal.

i'd check all of the seals around the windshield. i was getting wind noise from mine and i found that the seal was loose between the right fender and the windshield frame. i used some adhesive to reseal it and i haven't had any more noise problems.

I had this problem exhaustingly researched by Sewell Lexus several times and still live with the problem. 2002 SC with 28k miles. They DID replace the entire seal around the roof where the top meets the a-pillar and it made no difference. They re-insulated the a-pillar, checked top operation at the body shop as well as drove other SC's to compare. The end result after many visits and a couple of years: LIVE WITH IT.
Not the answer I was looking for in a $65k car, but it is a convertible. My service guy told me to use that ML system and turn up the volume, LOL. I didn't think it was too funny at the time!
I tried the thick lube as well on the seal and all it did was make a mess of my window every time you put the top up/down or roll the windows down. I don't recommend that actually.
The tech that actually worked on my car said that it is the side view mirrors making the noise. My question was how come you don't hear it on the passengers side? No comeback there.
I have had many, many convertibles and have never had these nagging little wind noises, not even on a rag top. It must be a tightness/tension issue with the latches.
