Default question to owners about seat comfort

The sc430 is a smaller vehicle than the GS430 (another car I am looking it), so they may not use similar seat designs. My current car, a 1995 honda accord has a drivers seat that just kills my back after as little as a 2-hour drive. So my question to all of you sc430 owners. How are the seats! Even better to those who have driven a car like the GS430 or even have owned or own a Lexus GS, how do the seats in the SC430 compare as far as long-distance comfort and support? Thanks

We had a 1998 GS400 for 3 years before leasing the SC430. I found the SC430 seat to be more adjustable and comfortable, especially the large range of adjustment in the lubar support. The padding is a bit softer in the SC430, and it lacks some of the lateral support of the GS400 seat, but overall, I've been less fatigued after long drives in the SC430 than in the GS400 (our longest single-stretch drive in the GS400 was 700 miles; I've done 450 in one stretch in the SC430).

Some have complained that the SC430 seat does not recline sufficiently for tall people; I've not had that problem (5' 10"), but you better check this out if you're over 6'.

I got my seat to recline perfectly now and im 6'1. The seats are extremely comfortable in my opinion. Dont listen to the car magazines, I think they want F1 style seating or something. They have good support all around and they are more or less bucket seats in the sense that you sit next to the console and everything is right there. Something about the 911 I couldnt get used to, felt like you were above everything else, comfort outweighed the performance and 6-speed of the 911 in the SC. If you intend on getting the car sideways a lot then the SC doesnt have great lateral support, but it has not reason to.

the seats in the sc430 are polly more comfortable than the ones in your office, or maybe not, The only problem to look for is the power lumbar support, which may not reach the right spot if you are 6 feet 1

other than that, very comfortable

Not a complaint, but the seats have less lateral support than some of their european competitors (ex. CLK430), requiring you to hold onto the steering wheel harder going around a tight turn, and causing your passengers to wonder if you're trying to fling the car off the road.

A minor thing to me. Personally, while they're not "performance" seats, they're very comfortable on long trips (having traveled in a 'Vette, where the side bolsters began to annoy me). I can find far more comfortable things to hug me if I want it.

I only wish that the seats were like the LS430's where the seat bottom could slide forward & back by itself. Great when you've been driving for hours and want more support closer to your knees.

End verdict: typical Lexus luxury -- performance without the cockpit feel -- great for touring.

Absolutely not!
I was referring to the many SINGLE passengers I've had reach for an "OSH" where there is none. We drivers have the steering wheel to hold onto.

I know my car is old and all, but my 1990 LS400 drivers seat is really uncomfortable to me. Maybe because there's no bottom cushion left and the springs are broke on one side, but even our 1995 toyota avalon (ecellent condition) is really unfomfortable after an hour. I think toyota / lexus seats are not the most fitting nor are they high quality seats.

Maybe this was corrected after 98' whe most models had redesigns.
