i need to do this to my wife’s 2007 SC430 with ECRU leather.

BTW, I am east of you, near Cocoa Beach
Thanks! I’m in Lauderdale now so you’re a couple hours north. I have a couple friends in Satellite Beach near you!

I cleaned the seats beforehand with a 50/50 mix of water and rubbing alcohol. Some will tell you not to do this but I have a lot of experience working with high end leather shoes and I promise it’s ok as long as you are covering the leather with something right after, in this case Seat Doctors.

The alcohol got off most of the surface oils and gave a good binding surface for the Seat Doctors to adhere to.
After that it was just applying the dye. The worst part of the bolster had all of the factory leather paint rubbed off and the seat Doctors did a great job of “re painting” the section as well as filling in wrinkles and making both seats look brand new.

Id recommend buying the 16oz bottle so you have enough to completely cover both seats and door panels in case you need it. This way you end up with an interior that looks almost showroom.

Default Leather paint

My Ecru leather seats in my 2003 were starting to lightly crack and just look worn. After pricing what it costs to have them reupholstered OMG I started looking for a fix that would restore the look and feel of the leather when it was new.
I paid $300 to have someone come out and redye (paint) the leather and I watched what he did to see how tough a job it was as he did both seats and the center console in 60 minutes.
He wiped everything down with Denatured alcohol to get rid of dirt and grease. Wiped it dry and then he did it one more time.
He masked off everything around the seat that he didn't want painted or over spray on. Lifted up the head rests so the top of the seat was painted.

And then he gets out a can of SEM 15003 Phantom White that when he was spraying was a perfect match for Ecru. I checked the body shop supply house and the Can of spray paint cost $15.95 plus tax. One can did both seats and the center console. All the cracks are filled by the paint. My seats look like new again. The attached photo is of my seats after two weeks of having my 300 lb butt sitting on it every day for two weeks, No wear and no cracks. You could easily do this yourself and save $285! The photo doesn't do the job justice as the shadows and flash make the colors yellow.Attachment 143349
I have 03 sc430..Ecru color...where did you get the leather paint?

Many places carry that spray paint. Amazon for one :
https://www.amazon.com/SEM-15003-Phantom-White-Color/dp/B000PKZ26W/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=SEM+15003+Phantom+White&qid=1597190002&sr=8-1 https://www.amazon.com/SEM-15003-Phantom-White-Color/dp/B000PKZ26W/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=SEM+15003+Phantom+White&qid=1597190002&sr=8-1

Just do a search for "SEM 15003 Phantom White". I've been using it on my center armrest but it only lasts a few years. I don't believe it is a good long term repair for the seats, especially worn or cracked areas, due to the flexing and stress they are under.

I’ve been searching all the threads for dying Ecru leather. I’ve found quite a bit of info. SEM Color Coat spray being a perfect match but also not the ideal solution due to it actually being a paint not specifically designed for leather. I’ve read where there’s been issues with it flaking off or cracking. They also make a SEM Classic/ Sure Coat that is for leather. That leads me back to water based dyes made for leather. I know there’s many to choose from. Leather Doctor , Leather Magic , Seat Doctors , Leatherique, etc.
Is there a clear winner when it comes to dyeing Ecru? It’s 35 degrees today so it’s nothing I’m doing anytime soon.

I am about to do exactly this to re-dye a few panels on my ecru seats. I also should do the armrest on the driver's door, where an elbow and maybe the side of a left knee have worn off some color. Can someone tell me if that armrest is covered in leather? Or is it vinyl? Thanks.

Guys,

How long does this touch up with this paint spray last? After 1-2 years, does the paint fall apart? Debating if I should replace my seats or use this method but I just don’t see how the touch up with this phantom paint spray will last. Any feedback on this from anyone who use the SEM color coat spray?

thanks....

p.s. your seats look great. I asked my Lexus dealership to have my driverSide "repainted/resprayed" just like what you did, and they quoted me
around $200 from the leather tech.
My wife cleaned ours with a wet Magic Eraser. Turned out really good. Seat Doctor ecru dye worked fine on the seats. There's a youtube video that shows how to rub on or apply with a foam brush. Rubbing it on left no brush marks and it was a perfect color match. Very pleased with the results

The Q is how long would this paint on method last?
can you recondition with leather cleaner after the paint?

You do know that the OEM leather is coated with polyurethane and leather conditioner is worthless. None of it gets to the leather. It just acts as a cleaner. So, to answer your question, no leather conditioner after paint is also worthless.

303 protectant supposedly protects against UV and ozone.
