Hi, I am looking at buying this for my wife as just a fun play car. It seems like a good deal, one owner, timing belt just serviced. I don't know much about Lexus cars. Should I look at this one or just keep looking. Thanks Jeremy

Depends on if you have a set of wrenches in your garage and know which end is which. Also if you could affor to buy a $20,000 car right now then you might go ahead and take a chance. If you buy it at $10K and need a transmission $4 or engine$10K then at least you break even sort of but if all you can afford is a $10K or $12K car than it is time to pass. If nothing breaks you are money ahead and if the engine needs rebuilt then you are barely even but you have to be able to pay for the repairs.
As long as you can spin the wrenches and do your own brakes, struts, alternators etc. then you might be okay. I hear the engines and transmissions last forever but there is always that one that could kill the budget.

I agree, it looks very nice, and clean. Bit off topic I never understood how someone could buy a car on ebay without actualy going to look at it/hearing it in person.

My wife found her 07 on Ebay and we bought it sight unseen, but it was at a Lexus dealer and had 300 miles on it.We got it in writing that there were absolutely no marks inside or out. She got her dream car and saved big bucks.

I've purchased several cars from eBay. You don't actually pay before you see the car in person and check it out. It's also important to check out the seller (i.e. make sure there are deep pockets to go after later if there is a hidden problem) and check the CarFax.

Me too, I bought mine off Ebay, flew to Dallas with a cashiers check and drove it back to Seattle. Saved $10K over the Local Lexus dealer. I am 100% satisfied and I would do it again.

Me too. I made on offer to a wholesale dealer on Ebay, sent him a cashier's check for $24K, received a bill of sale and flew from Los Angeles to Philadelphia for $158. and drove it back. The only very minor disappointment, was the trunk struts were bad and that was not mentioned in the auction. But, my deal was I could have my check back if I was not satisfied with the car after seeing it in person. Why kill a nice deal for a set of trunk stuts? In fact, I did not even mention that issue to him.

I've purchased my last two Lexus autos on EBAY. Have been very satisfied. Once I got their vins I checked their service history at my local Lexus dealership. I then got a CARFAX check and then got an address of the car's owner. I GOOGLED EARTH thier home, my policy is to only buy a car from a person who I could assume their ability to take care of their automobiles. Lastly, I only buy Arizona and FL cars, no exceptions. If you have 30 pictures of a car you can get a sense for its condition. A car with 160,000 on the clock I would not go after unless the price was no more than $9,000. The car in question is already $10,900 so its overpriced. It looks good but now anything can go wrong, so you must have DEEP POCKETS for any subsequent repairs.
