Depends on the situation. If that car was sitting 2 weeks with the alarm it may drain the battery down. I would have someone take a closer look at it if your interested. 72k miles is nothing on this car.

You can still get a service contract on these cars up to 100k miles, will just a but more. Keep in mind worst case scenario most parts can be had used nowadays and plenty are in the hands of wreckers due to accidents. This can also keep the cost down if something went south down the line.

just to give you an idea. i have a 2002 with 50k miles. the original battery lasted until last year with no problems. i stressed it more than most. the top was up and down on more or less a daily basis. it's year round convertible weather here for the most part. so if you can get a warranty, i'd buy it. if not, i'd keep looking.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but an '02 would have been sold in '01, correct? So that makes this car about 7-8 years old. So we're talking about 9-10K miles/year, which means that it very well could have been stored during the winter months. Personally, I wouldn't be overly concerned about this problem, and the price seems pretty good if the rest of the car seems to be in good shape, but you have to do what you feel comfortable with. Did you run the VIN through carfax and autocheck?
