cost of windshield
I just test drove the car and it ran fine, I did notice that there was a little star in the windshield and I pointed this out to the owner and he said he would have this fixed if I bought the car. How much does a new windshield cost, Maybe I will leave it alone for now and try and deduct this from the purchase price. Don;t know if he will go for it. It also has newer run flat tires and the chrome lexus rims are shot. Does anyone have and rims and tires for a reasonable price. Thanks Jimbo

get a quote and have him deduct it from the cost. Then if the star is smaller than a quarter have a company repair the star (between $25- $60). If it is going to be replaced it is better to have it done under your supervision rather than him. You don't want to get the run around trying to find out who will be responsible for a leak or any damage it may have caused. When you do decide to get it replaced, make sure you at least use a company that your insurance company will recommend/back. I replaced windshields for about 15 years and it's the only way I would allow someone else to do the work on my car if it came down to it.

As there have been several reports of windshields on SC430's cracking from stress - mine was apparently replaced by the original owner, before I took possession of the car...and there are at least half-a-dozen threads on here about people coming out to their car and finding a 2-foot crack in the windshield - I'd suggest you do whatever you can to get zero-deductable glass coverage on your car insurance.

sc430 window stress crack
A piece of my heart is broken. Driving down ocean parkway BAM the front window has 3 that's THREE cracks coming up from the bottom of the windshield. That makes 2 times I have had this happen. The first time was in the winter, now the summer what's next?????

Is it visible that a rock or something hit your windshield or do the cracks originate below the cowling. If the later is the case and the cracks are in the same area as before, the breakage is likely due to installation error.
