Second "Lexus battery" dead on an 2004
#31
On Sunday, tried the Sears Diehard Platinum Size 34 on my 2002 sc430.
The battery did fit the tray, however since + terminal is positioned rear-right, my cables came up about 1" short. Not sure if other cars will have same issue or have more slack to reach. Will try another brand later this week.

Yep, the battery in our SC is junk. Mine an 05 died on me yesterday while waiting to pick up my daughter at school (15 minutes or so listening to music with the engine turn off while waiting for the school bell to ring). I do this all the times with my 04 RX330 (Panasonic OEM) and never once it failed to start (Panasonic seems to make a great battery if you can find it).
Took a quick jump to get me going again. So the first thing I did was went to Autozone and pick up the H6-DLG recommended by LIQUID. I thought of going with the Diehard Platinum but JJsc430 couldn't get it to fit and I don't like the hassle of returning if it not fit. The Duralast H6-DLG fit perfectly and took like 10 minutes to swap out - works great so far. Apparently, the Duralast is made by the same company that make Interstate and Diehard Gold etc.

interesting fact that you mentioned about Duralast.
I'm on my second Interstate. The first one was kind of flaky and the second one is solid. Maybe I should consider Duralast on my next battery replacement.
thanks for the info....martini3

Yes, there are limited number of battery manufactures that just relabel their batteries for different customers (Sears, AutoZone, etc.). Unfortunately, I don't know who makes what. I do know that Interstate made Diehard batteries for a while, though I don't know if they still do.

Two Things
Just had an Interstate MTP-91 installed at a Firestone Auto Center. $135.71. Cheaper than the $154 MTP-H6. They are physically the same size and shape, fyi. Installer told me the cheaper one was better. If only all life was like that...
And... I rechecked the center console charger and you're right Liquid SC - it isn't live. I coulda sworn I charged my cell without the engine running, but I guess not. Sorry if I created any confusion.

this should go without saying, but if you replace your battery yourself, make sure you don't reverse the terminals. for whatever reason, there have been a few posts of people connecting the positive to the negative and vice versa. causes a lot of headaches you could live without.
